Thanks to the detailed research by two volunteer university Professors, we now have a detailed calculation of the topics Rick Norlock has spoken about over the past five years in the House of Commons.
“This is an unfortunate and damning indictment of how Rick Norlock spoke more from Harper’s speaking notes then he ever did about this riding. Particularly as job numbers fell off a cliff here in the last few years, Rick chose to speak about Commemorative days of all things, at 5.1% of all topics he chose to speak about, almost twice as much as he did about our riding of Northumberland – Quinte West or job creation” Stated Rudd
“It is a inexcusable reflection of how little Rick Norlock chose to speak about our riding and the topics that clearly matter most to us and the topics that matter most to Rick Norlock and his boss Stephen Harper. I cannot thank our volunteer researchers enough for this level of detailed information as well as the painstaking way in which they gathered the information, creating this one of a kind oral history of Rick Norlock’s time in the House of Commons. Combing through every copy of Hansard and other records, our research team has been able to definitively show how little Rick Norlock addressed the issues that matter to most to us in this riding”, stated Kim Rudd, Liberal Candidate for Northumberland – Quinte West.
“We see he (Rick Norlock) made barely passing references to Northumberland – Quinte West (2.6% of all topics spoken), and even less for crucial issues like job creation (2.3% of all topics spoken in 5 years). Other topics, such as Seniors (0.2%) and Agriculture (1.5%), are barely even rated a mention in the overall count”, said Rudd.
“We need representation that puts this riding’s concerns and issues first, not less than 2.5% of all the topics spoken about in our House of Commons”, said Rudd.
